Merchant Pennant 1786-1804

Siegel (1912) reported "the flag introduced in the year 1786 by Emperor Joseph II remained in existence, but in 1804 the permission that allowed the merchant ships to fly a pennant in the new flag colours and the arms was revoked."

The pennant was in the same colour and design as the Ensign since 1786.
